Our 4th, 5th, and 6th class pupils had a special visit from our local Community Garda who spoke to them about the importance of staying safe online. In a world where screens are everywhere, it’s crucial that children know how to navigate the digital world responsibly.
Key Takeaways from the Talk:
✅ Think Before You Click – Once something is shared online, it’s out of your control. Always double-check before posting or sending messages.
✅ Stranger Danger Exists Online Too – Just because someone seems friendly doesn’t mean they are who they say they are. Never share personal details with people you don’t know.
✅ Kindness Counts – Cyberbullying is just as harmful as bullying in person. Treat others with respect, both online and offline.
✅ Ask for Help – If something online makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, talk to a trusted adult—a parent, teacher, or even the Gardaí.
The pupils were fully engaged, asking brilliant questions and sharing their own experiences. This session was a fantastic opportunity to reinforce good digital habits and ensure our pupils feel empowered to make smart choices online.
A big thank you to our Community Garda, Mick Toland, for taking the time to educate and support our students in staying safe in today’s digital world!
