Dúchas
Like many schools, the schools which now are amalgamated to make up Ballyvary Central School were involved in the collection and recording of stories by pupils from their parents, grandparents and neighbours before 1940. This is a fascinating insight into rural Ireland at the time and a great source of local history as recorded by the pupils of the day. Not only are all these accounts and stories still available for viewing today but we have all presented on the Dúchas website in the actual handwriting of the children who collected the stories. Below we have provided a few of the links to specific stories - be sure to check out some of the many other fascinating stories on duchas.ie
